Blogroll
I confess: I am a FlyLady drop-out. Housecleaning has never been my strong point. But I read 50 Tips to Unclutter Your Blog, and I thought Skellie had some good points. I hate crowded sidebars, and moving my blogroll to a separate page sounded like a great way to declutter.
All of the following are blogs I have enjoyed at least a few times. Some link to me, and some don’t. No doubt there are blogs that link to me but aren’t included here — if your blog is missing, please email me and I will add it as soon as I can. [Contact info on About Denise page.]
There are many more blogs on this list than anyone with a life can read on a regular basis. If you take the time to browse around, however, I think you will find something that strikes your fancy.
“Table of Contents” Quicklinks
(Or you can scroll down…and down…and down…and down…like Alice…)
- All in the family
My kids’ blogs. These have not been updated lately, but we have good intentions… - Blogging about math
My favorite blogs by math teachers, the guys and gals that make me think. - Education & homeschooling blogs
My favorite education-related blogs. - Other favorites
Many of these are educational, too, but some of them are just plain fun. - Yet more: Parents, teachers, and homeschoolers
Friends and acquaintances from around the internet. Most of these I don’t visit often, but when I do manage to find time, I always enjoy the trip.
All In The Family
These are my kids’ blogs — and theoretically part of their language education. They have not published much lately, but I am planning to put it on their “To-Do” lists, when I get a round tuit.
- Niner’s SnapFair
The daughter who supplies my header photos has started a blog to show off her pictures. Her photography skills continue to improve, and her sense of humor comes through in the stories that accompany each photo. - Chicken Scratchings
My teen son has a quirky sense of humor, and I enjoyed his fractured fairy tales. But shortly after starting the blog, he took up guitar, and I can’t get him to stop playing Johnny Cash songs long enough to type up a new post. - Kitten’s Purring
My youngest daughter, who had great fun picking out her online name: Princess Kitten. She was writing some cute animal stories, but then she got addicted a couple of those lo-o-o-ong book series from the library. It’s so much easier to read something than to face that blank screen and write!
Blogging About Math
My favorite blogs by math teachers, the guys and gals that make me think. These are my top reads on Bloglines.
- Drat These Greeks!
Myrtle is teaching proof-based algebra to her pre-teen son, and she seems to be doing a good job. I love her tagline: “Three people in my immediate family have advanced math degrees but all I got was this lousy blog.” - dy/dan
Math lessons, presentation tips, and more — always interesting. I am looking forward to trying Dan’s Graphing Stories lesson with my junior high students next semester. - Homeschool Math
“I love teaching and I love math.” Maria is a lady after my own heart. She is also the author of the Math Mammoth books. If you are a homeschooler or afterschooler frustrated with your math curriculum, you might want to check these out. - JD2718
If I was stranded on a desert island with nothing to read but three blogs, JD2718 would be one of them. At least then I would have the time to fully enjoy his puzzles. - Mathematical paintings and sculptures
New in 2007. Check out this beautiful Celtic Möbius strip. - MathNotations
My other choice of math blog if I ever find myself stranded on a desert isle. Puzzles, investigations, and lots of things to learn about math. I couldn’t begin to pick a favorite post to link — go browse for yourself. - Ramblings of a Math Mom
Another math-loving mom who coaches students for math competitions. I wish I could sit in on her middle-school lessons. - Text Savvy
Insight about math and teaching from a textbook author and editor, plus a bonus: brainteasers. - The Exponential Curve
Dan teaches math at Downtown College Prep charter high school, where the target student is low-skilled and of the first generation to go to college. What a challenge! - think again!
Two of my favorite things: puzzles and quotations. Click. Browse. Enjoy. - Wild About Math!
A very new site, but already chock-full of useful content. I am keeping an eye on this one.
And here are more sites that talk about math (without getting so advanced that I’m totally lost), or about teaching math, or that at least mention math every so often. Too many interesting blogs, too little time…

Education & Homeschooling Blogs
Let me introduce you to my favorite education-related blogs, which include both homeschoolers and public school teachers. (When it comes to the challenges of teaching, we have more in common than you might think.) Some highlight practical tips, others pass on news stories, and still others focus on the politics of education. No matter where you click, I am sure you will find something interesting to think about.

Thanks for including Dexter’s Discoveries!
Yeah, thanks for including me!
You’re welcome, Dexter! I hope it brings you some traffic.
Thanks too, Denise! I couldn’t figure out why our traffic suddenly went up–I think your mention helped! I haven’t blogged much lately about homeschooling, but I hope to fix that soon. Looking forward to checking out your new Frugal site too.
I am glad to have contributed to your boost, Mama Squirrel. Dewey’s Treehouse is one of my favorite homeschooling blogs, and it certainly deserves more attention.
Great looking site. Lots of helpful tools and resources.
What a wonderful list of math blogs. I can hardly wait to read them all.
It is actually missing far too many and in desperate need of an update. If you are interested in math blogs, be sure to check out the math carnivals (MTaP #8 here, and CoM here on 6/5).
