Let’s Play Math!

Tight times

October 10, 2007 · 2 Comments

Have you ever read the Reading Rainbow book Tight Times? It’s one of my favorites: a tear-jerky sweet story of a family under stress and a boy who wants a dog. I love the perfectly simple, understated pencil illustrations by Trina Schart Hyman. We all have tight times now and then, and I am sure you don’t want to hear me complain about ours. But if you are a regular reader of Let’s play math!, you have probably already noticed my new bleg in the sidebar, so I thought I should offer a minimal explanation.

I have opened an Amazon Associates bookstore featuring all the books I have mentioned in past blog posts, along with many more great books for teaching math. I have nearly 200 books listed, and I will be adding more as I get the chance, so you’re bound to find something that’s just right for you.

Feel free to use the store as a resource list for library trips — but if you find the perfect book that you just have to purchase, I would appreciate you using my link, so I get a small referral fee. That would help convince my husband that the time I put into writing blog posts (when I probably should be cleaning house) is worth something.

I just sent you a donation. Having just found your blog I already have found many uses for all of your information! Thank you! I totally understand the need to come up with extra money..we don’t have much but I figured pay it forward! Carpe diem.
